Tips for Making the Most of Your Visit

  • Arrive early – You’ll beat the crowds and get softer light for photos.
  • Dress in layers – Mornings can be chilly, but it warms up fast and can feel humid in the fields.
  • Wear comfortable shoes – You’ll be doing a fair bit of walking, and some paths are very uneven.
  • Book extras in advance – Yoga classes, wine tastings, and flower crown workshops often sell out.
  • Bring water and sunscreen – Especially if you’re visiting midday.
  • Food – There are food vendors including pizza, tacos, coffee and other snacks for purchase.

Getting There: Easy Day Trip Options

Carlsbad is about 90 minutes from Los Angeles and about 40 minutes from San Diego, making it a solid choice for a California day trip. It’s also a great pit stop if you’re road-tripping between LA and San Diego.

The Flower Fields are located right off the I-5 freeway, at 5704 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92008. Free parking available. If you want to keep the day going after your visit, there are beaches, restaurants, and small shops nearby—Carlsbad Village is only a few minutes away and makes a great lunch or coffee stop or end the day with a perfect California sunset. But, there is enough to do on site that we didn’t feel the need to do anything else before getting back on the road to head home.

Time Is Running Out—Don’t Miss It

Remember, the flowers have a short viewing window each spring, and once they’re gone, that’s it until next year. The season typically wraps in early May, so if you’re planning a visit, don’t wait until the very end. Weather, crowds, and bloom cycles can shift things quickly. As of right now, the last day to buy tickets online for the 2025 season is Sunday, May 11th. So if you’re looking for an easy, low-stress day out factor, get your tickets now!
